Who are the Army Cadets?
The Army Cadets are one of the UK’s largest youth organisations, providing young people aged 12 to 18 with the opportunity to develop their confidence, leadership and character through challenging and rewarding activities. Rooted in standards of discipline, teamwork and service, the Army Cadets give young people from all backgrounds the chance to discover what they are truly capable of.
Through adventurous training, community engagement and personal development, the Army Cadets help shape the next generation of leaders – young people who are resilient, ambitious and ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.

Jordan Wylie MBE is a bestselling author, adventurer and former British Army soldier who has dedicated much of his life to supporting young people and charitable causes. As National Ambassador for the Army Cadets, Jordan embodies the organisation’s core values: Courage, Respect for Others, Integrity, Loyalty, Discipline and Selfless Commitment.
Jordan’s connection to the Army Cadets goes beyond a title. He is a passionate advocate for the transformative power of the organisation, believing firmly that its experiences and opportunities can change lives. He champions the cadets on a national stage, raising awareness of their achievements and inspiring the next generation to reach for something greater.
Xtreme Everest represents the pinnacle of that ambition – a project that places Army Cadets at the very heart of one of the most extraordinary expeditions ever undertaken in their name.
How The Cadets Will Participate in Xtreme Everest
Xtreme Everest is not just Jordan’s journey – it belongs to the Army Cadets too. Ten pre-selected cadets will earn their place on a once-in-a-lifetime expedition to Everest Base Camp, joining Jordan in Kathmandu, Nepal.
These places will not simply be given. They will be earned. Cadets will be selected based on their commitment, character and personal development throughout the project, reinforcing the principle that true elevation, whether in altitude or in life, comes through consistent effort, discipline and belief in oneself.
How Can Cadets Apply?
ACF and CCF Army cadets and adult volunteers can apply from the 1st of June 2026 until the 1st of July 2026 via Westminster using the code 26/1195826.
For CCF Army cadets, if you do not have access to Westminster, please ask your SSI or Contingent Commander to apply on your behalf.

Selection Criteria for Cadets
- Be in Year 10 or equivalent right now at school
- That means you’ll be at least 16 by the time of the expedition in April 2028, and no older than 17.
- Have been an Army Cadet in the ACF or CCF Army Section for at least one year
- Achieved 1-star level
- Commitment to stay in cadets until at least 2029
- Application approved by parent/guardian
- Application supported by detachment commander or contingent commander
- Available on key dates over 2-year period
- Be physically, mentally and medically fit to be able to take on an extreme expedition.
Selection Criteria for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers
Essential criteria:
- Currently serving in the ACF or CCF(Army)
- Fit, physically strong, mentally resilient
- Have been a CFAV for at least 2 years with experience in safely managing groups
- Application supported by Commandant/Contingent Commander
- Available for 2-year commitment (significant time investment)
Advantageous experience:
- Mountain leader qualification with experience of leading at altitude
- DofE assessor
- Navigation skills
